1. Overview

Aberdeen Animates celebrates creativity and storytelling through animation. By submitting your work to the Aberdeen Animates Showcase, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

 

2. Eligibility

• Submissions are open only to residents of Aberdeen and the surrounding area.

• All entrants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of submission.

• Entrants must be the original creators or have full rights to the material submitted.

 

3. Submission Guidelines

• Animation length: Minimum 1 minute, maximum 3 minutes.

• Format: Submissions should be made via FilmFreeway.

• Content standards: Submissions must not include or promote sexual content, extreme violence, hate speech, racism, homophobia, or any discriminatory or illegal material.

• AI-generated content: Submissions must be created entirely by human artists. The use of AI-generated imagery, animation, dialogue, music, or voices is not permitted.

• All works must be original and must not infringe upon any third-party rights.

 

4. Copyright & Usage Rights

• The creator(s) retain full copyright of their submitted animation.

• By submitting, you grant Aberdeen Animates a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to: - Screen your work during the evening and related events.

• Use clips, stills, and promotional materials from your animation for marketing and publicity (including online and print).

• Showcase your work on official Aberdeen Animates and SZN Media digital channels (e.g. website, social media).

• Any promotional use will always credit the creator(s) appropriately.

 

 

5. Selection & Awards

• Submissions will be reviewed by the Aberdeen Animates selection panel.

• Not all submitted works are guaranteed to be screened.

• Selected animations will be featured during the Aberdeen Animates Festival and considered for festival awards, which will be announced at the Celebration Night.

• Awards have no monetary value and are given in recognition of creative achievement.

 

6. Liability

• Entrants are responsible for ensuring they have obtained all necessary permissions (including music, voice, and image rights).

• Aberdeen Animates is not liable for any claims arising from copyright infringement or unauthorised use of materials within submissions.

 

7. Data Protection

• Personal information provided during submission will be used solely for festival administration, communication, and promotion of selected works.

• No personal data will be shared with third parties without consent.

 

8. Agreement

By submitting your animation via FilmFreeway, you confirm that:

• You have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.

• You have the right to submit the work.

• You consent to its use in accordance with these terms.
