1. About Aberdeen Animates
Aberdeen Animates celebrates creativity, storytelling and innovation through animation. Our activities may include animation screenings, industry talks, workshops, networking, awards and opportunities for emerging animators to develop their ideas.
These Terms & Conditions set out the general terms applicable to participation in Aberdeen Animates activities and use of our website.
Additional rules may apply to specific activities, including animation submissions and the Pitch Lab. Please read the relevant rules before applying or participating.

3. Respectful conduct
Aberdeen Animates aims to provide an inclusive, welcoming and respectful environment for audiences, filmmakers, speakers, judges, volunteers and other participants.
We expect everyone involved to treat others respectfully and refrain from harassment, discrimination or abusive behaviour.
We reserve the right to take appropriate action where behaviour negatively affects the safety or experience of others, including refusing or withdrawing participation where necessary.
4. Intellectual property
Creators retain ownership of their original work unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Participants must ensure they have the necessary rights and permissions for any material they submit or present, including third-party images, music, footage, voices and other copyrighted material.
Permission to screen, reproduce, publish or promote submitted work will be governed by the relevant activity's specific rules and any additional permissions agreed with the creator.
Aberdeen Animates branding, website content and original promotional materials must not be reproduced or used commercially without appropriate permission.
5. Programme changes and cancellations
Aberdeen Animates will make reasonable efforts to deliver its published programme. However, speakers, activities, timings, venues and other arrangements may occasionally change due to circumstances beyond our control.
Where significant changes or cancellations occur, we will make reasonable efforts to communicate relevant updates through our official channels.
6. Liability
Participants are responsible for ensuring that any work, materials or information they provide can be used lawfully and does not infringe the rights of others.
To the extent permitted by law, Aberdeen Animates is not responsible for claims arising from materials supplied by participants where the necessary rights or permissions have not been obtained.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
7. Privacy and data protection
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation.
Personal information may be used for purposes such as administering submissions, organising festival activities, communicating with participants and delivering the programme.

8. Activity-specific rules
Participation in particular Aberdeen Animates activities may be subject to additional terms, eligibility criteria and submission requirements.
By submitting an animation, entering the Pitch Lab or applying to participate in another activity, you are responsible for reading and complying with the rules applicable to that activity.
Where specific rules apply, they should be read alongside these general Terms & Conditions. If a specific provision differs from these general terms, the applicable activity-specific provision will govern that activity to the extent of the difference, subject to applicable law.
